HANHART PRIMUS
Hanhart PRIMUS: the line without a historical model
A house with as much archive as Hanhart runs the risk of only ever looking backwards. The PRIMUS is the countermove. It came to market in 2009 and quotes nothing. It is larger than the historical lines, works with automatic movements and shows them through a display back, which would have been unthinkable on a pilot's chronograph of the fifties.
Pilot and Racer
The two lines share the case and part company in attitude. The Pilot stays with what Hanhart knows from aviation: clear numerals, strong hands, a crown you find wearing gloves. The Racer comes from motor sport and carries the features of the historical Racemaster chronographs, among them the tachymeter scale for reading speeds over a known distance.
Where the line goes further technically
Because the PRIMUS has nothing to reproduce, it is free to use materials that did not exist in the fifties. The steel bracelet carries a transparent hard coating and reaches a surface hardness of up to 1000 HV. Untreated stainless steel sits at around 200 HV. In daily use that simply means the bracelet still looks like a bracelet after two years rather than like a collection of fine scratches.
The red pusher has stayed. It ties this line too to what has defined Hanhart since 1939.
