Amazonite – The Radiant Gemstone in Blue-Green
Amazonite captivates with its unique blue-green glow, reminiscent of tropical landscapes. Known also as “green feldspar,” it belongs to the group of rock-forming minerals such as aventurine, labradorite, and moonstone. Due to its exceptional color, it is often confused with turquoise, larimar, or jade, but irregularities in its crystal lattice give it a distinctive, unmistakable hue.
Its history dates back to the 18th century when the German explorer Alexander von Humboldt coined the name "Amazonite." During an expedition in South America, he saw jewelry made from this stone worn as necklaces by the indigenous women along the Rio Negro. This is how amazonite became known as the “Amazon stone” and found its place in pre-Columbian culture as well as in ancient Egypt, where it was used to craft artworks and religious items.
Today, amazonite is mainly valued for its harmonizing and healing properties. It is believed to promote vitality and joy of life, relieve tension, and alleviate nerve pain. Its radiant blue-green color makes it an ideal complement to elegant summer outfits, as well as to classic black combinations
