The oval stainless steel case measures 45.5 by 41.0 millimetres and picks up the design language of the early seventies, when Junghans timed numerous sporting competitions. Crown and pusher tube are screwed down and the case back is secured with four screws.
Inside works the J880.5 automatic movement with a power reserve of up to 48 hours. The anthracite dial carries a sun brushed finish under matt transparent lacquer, while the subdials and the tachymeter scale stand out in matt black.

How large does the oval case wear?
The case measures 45.5 millimetres in length and 41.0 millimetres in width at a height of 14.5 millimetres. The oval shape makes it read narrower on the wrist than a round watch of the same diameter.
How long does the watch run when not worn?
The J880.5 automatic movement stores up to 48 hours of power reserve. Left off the wrist for two days it will normally stop and needs winding again.
What is the tachymeter scale for?
It converts a timed run over a known distance into an average speed. It dates from the years when Junghans officially timed races and competitions.
Can I swim with this watch?
It is water resistant to 10 bar. Showering and swimming are no problem, but it is not intended for scuba diving.
