In 1978 Tissot created a quartz model marked by a slim case, narrow indices and a steel bracelet. Its broad horizontal lugs, typical of the period, sat flush with the flat tonneau case. A few years later Tissot registered the name PRX: 'PR' stands for precise and robust, the 'X' is the Roman numeral ten and stands for the pressure of 10 bar, or a depth of 100 metres. In 2021 Tissot presented the new PRX as a contemporary reading of that original.
The 316L stainless steel case measures 40 mm across, with a gentle tonneau shape and a narrow round bezel; along the sides, vertically brushed rounded surfaces alternate with polished facets. The lines of the case run straight into the bracelet without traditional lugs. The hands carry SuperLumiNova® and are set close together, which brings the dial nearer to the crystal and makes the case look slimmer than it is.
This version of the PRX Powermatic 80 has a light green waffle pattern dial with nickel-plated indices and hands, a scratch resistant anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a mineral glass display back. Its Swiss Made automatic movement offers up to 80 hours of power reserve and uses a Nivachron balance spring, known for its resistance to magnetic fields. The 316L stainless steel bracelet has a quick release system and a butterfly clasp with push buttons.
