What is Damascus steel?

Two kinds of steel are folded and forge welded many times over. After etching, the layering shows as a pattern, so every case carries a drawing of its own.

Does the steel rust?

No. Maurice Lacroix uses austenitic Damascus steel, which resists corrosion like ordinary stainless steel.

What is frozen carbon?

Carbon fibres are pressed with pigments and metal powder or coloured resin into a block and then cut open. That creates a marbled grain which comes out differently on every dial, so two watches never look quite the same.

How accurate is the ML1000 calibre?

It is regulated in five positions to plus four to minus four seconds a day. That is tighter than the chronometer standard of plus six to minus four seconds.

Can I change the strap myself?

Yes. The ML Easy Change System sits invisibly under the lug and releases the strap without tools. We also stock matching straps.

The case is made of austenitic Damascus steel. In forging, two kinds of steel are folded over and over, which creates the characteristic grain that runs differently on every case. It is joined by a black ceramic bezel and a black dial with rhodium plated hands. The edition is limited to 500 pieces.

Inside works the ML1000 manufacture calibre. Maurice Lacroix assembles and regulates it in Saignelegier in five positions to plus four to minus four seconds a day, it stores 60 hours and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Through the sapphire back you see the Geneva stripes, the circular graining and the blued screws.

On the wrist there is a black bi rubber strap with a textured insert in imitation nylon and the M logo of Maurice Lacroix. The ML Easy Change System lets you remove it without tools.
